Visitor Info

As expected with a large zoo, there are a wide range of facilities available. The zoo houses three cafés that cater for hot and cold meals, snacks and drinks. There are toilets throughout the park with baby changing facilities and ample car parking onsite. A limited number of wheelchairs are available free of charge, and landscaped grounds ensure easy access for both wheelchair users and push chairs. For children there are a range of play areas and even Woodland railway and gold panning experiences available for an additional charge on the day. There is even a crazy golf course!

Paradise Wildlife Park is over 50 years old and has come a long way since its humble beginnings in the 1960s. The Park did not truly take shape until it was purchased by the Sampson family in 1984. To comply with government legislation the zoo was closed between Christmas 1984 and July 1985 while extensive renovation took place to ensure the safety and happiness of animals with new enclosures as well as a range of facilities for zoo customers.

In 1990 the zoo was renamed Paradise Wildlife Park as the venue became more and more popular as a tourist location. During the 1990s renovation continued on the park as a new tiger enclosure was built as well as a second café and three outdoor play areas. It was during this period that the experience day activities began to take shape as the zoo began ‘encounter experiences’ with some of the animals for the first time, allowing zoo customers to learn about the animals by getting up close.
