These fast, manoeuvrable and large rescue vehicles are a challenge to drive. Set your siren blaring and negotiate the course as you learn from the driving seat of the cab what it’s like to be in the emergency services. This one-to-one session with an experienced instructor and firefighter will improve your driving skills, and its also a lot of fun!

You will drive the Appliance through a specially laid out course including top gear main roads, T-junctions, roundabouts, slaloms and garages. Things are made as realistic as possible so the emergency vehicle will be carrying a full equipment load plus 2 tonnes of water! Subject to availability, but generally you get the chance to use the hoses and sometimes even put out a fire!

Group Size: Tuition is shared with 5 other voucher holders.

You will spend 30 minutes at the wheel of the fire engine.

Participants must be fit and able bodied to take part in this experience. The maximum weight is 18st (114kg). The maximum height is 6ft 4" (1.93m) and the minimum height is 5ft 2" (1.57m).
The minimum age is 17 years.
Drivers must hold a full, valid UK or European driving licence which must be brought and shown on the day.

This experience is available throughout the year on selected weekdays and weekends.

We recommend planning 3 to 4 weeks in advance. However, availability varies through the year depending on demand.

You are welcome to bring up to two spectators with you, who can ride in the appliance with you.

You will receive a presentation voucher pack containing a voucher (valid for 9 months from date of purchase), background reading on the Fire Engine Driving and details of how to book a date.

Public Liability insurance for £10m is included, along with Personal Accident Insurance for up to £50,000. Details are enclosed within the voucher pack.

In the event of your activity being cancelled a new date will be arranged.
