What does the activity include ?

The Ecclesbourne Valley Railway in Derbyshire’s Gentle Valley is the ideal location for a heritage diesel train ride. Not only will you enjoy the marvels of locomotive power but you’ll do it from the drivers cab! On arrival at the station you will be briefed by an expert train driver and shown how to operate the heritage diesel train. After a delicious lunch you will take to the controls of the train and drive the impressive vehicle along a scenic countryside route. Although don’t get too distracted by the hills and wildlife, you're the one driving the train today!

You will receive a safety briefing on arrival at the train station, along with one to one tuition on operating the train with an expert train driver. Following your lesson you will enjoy lunch in the buffet car of the train with up to three of your own invited guests, after which you will take the controls and drive the diesel train on the track. After your steam train journey you will assist with final checks and storing the train away for the night.

This gift voucher is valid for 10 months. On receipt, you can contact the operator to arrange a date for your experience using the details provided. All bookings are subject to availability. The experience runs 7 days a week. Participants must be at least 18 years of age and be reasonably fit and in good health. Hardy footwear is recommended. Participants may not drink any alcohol on the day of the train drive. You may invite up to three guests along. Children must be supervised by an adult other than the driving participant. Due to the length and nature of the experience, it may not be suitable for all children.
