Prepare for a wonderful flying experience in one of the most loved aircraft from days past - the Tiger Moth.

“The Tiger Moth is a thing of great beauty. Everybody who has ever flown a Tiger Moth has fallen in love with it. You could throw one about all over the sky and nothing ever broke” – Roald Dahl, ‘Going Solo’.

These are the words of the veteran pilot and loved author Roald Dahl. Dahl learnt to fly in a Tiger Moth, as did most Second World War pilots. It’s impervious to beginner incompetence, thus ideal for newcomers and aspiring pilots or those with a penchant for aviation history.

During the 1950s the government sold off excess Tiger Moths and their parts cheaply, meaning collectors parted with their cash for a piece of history. Nowadays these planes are expensive to maintain, which is why this is such an incredible experience to opt for and one that’s rapidly becoming rarer.

The experience begins with an introductory briefing on safety, controls and flight theory before taking to the air for a 30-minute trial lesson or pleasure flight in a DH82A de Havilland Tiger Moth. Please note that at Romford, the aircraft used is a Boeing Stearman, which was the US Army Air Corps equivalent to the Tiger Moth used by the RAF.

Option of aerobatics.
Tea and coffee available at most locations.
Signed certificate presented at the end of the experience.
Spectators welcome.

Notes and Restrictions

Voucher valid for 9 months.
Public Liability Insurance included.
This experience is weather dependant and may be cancelled at short notice.
Those under the influence of alcohol or drugs will be excluded from participating.
Min. age 12 years.
Max. height 6'4", max. height 16 stone.

This experience runs March to November. Only Sunday flights are available at Shoreham.
At the Eaglescott location, all flights are non-aerobatic and run on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

"A brilliant follow up!"

Early last year, my wife bought me the 15 minute Tiger Moth flight which I loved, so much so that as a treat for myself, I booked myself onto the longer flight! I'm so glad I did, the extra time allowed me to appreciate all the more the amazing agility of this plane. My late uncle flew in one of these during WWII and it was incredible to sit in what is a piece of history. Taking the controls was brilliant once again and the pilot performed a few aerobatics which had me yelling in delight! A magnificent day!
