Choose to spend your day roving across Derbyshire’s lush countryside in the glorious, archaic luxury of a vintage locomotive. This experience is one for train lovers and explorers alike, and is flexible to fit in with your day’s plans.
In this classic engine, you will see the fields and hills of the east Midlands in a new light. Relax as the world rushes by, before you hop off to explore the next destination and take in the local history and places of interest. You will enjoy unlimited travel for the day along the railway and the ticket gives you the ideal freedom to relax and explore at a leisurely pace, without having to rush or miss anything on offer.
Alternatively, you can take a closer look at what goes on behind the scenes at the Kent & East Sussex Railway. Areas usually not for public viewing such as the signal box and locomotive yard, will be opened up to give you a better idea of the way a railway works.

Railway Behind the Scenes Day - £149
Enjoy a full day touring the Kent and East Sussex Railway, included is lunch and a 21 mile round trip on the railway. A fun day out for any enthusiast!
- Arrive at 9:30am.
- Enjoy welcome drinks on arrival at the Tenterden buffet.
- First thing on the agenda is a tour of the Carriage & Wagon shed where restoration work is taking place.
- Then hop aboard the 10.40am express to Tenterden.
- You'll stop at Rolvenden to tour the site including the loco shed and signal box.
- The 11.42 ex Bodiam from Rolvenden will arrive and you will see it being watered.
- Once back at Tenterden you'll enjoy lunch in the restaurant.
- Tour the Colonel Stephen's museum.
- Enjoy a 21 mile round trip on the 2:20pm from Tenterden.
- Once back at the station there will be a de-brief and a final cup of tea before the day ends at 4:45pm.
