Drive A Diesel Train Experience

This experience is the ideal gift for anyone who loves trains! Not only do you get the chance to be on the train but you will also be allowed to drive it through Ecclesbourne Valley.

The Ecclesbourne Valley is situated in Derbyshire's Gentle Valley, stretching from the northern outskirts of Derby to the delightful town of Wirksworth, gateway to the Peak District. Upon arrival at the station you will be tutored by an experienced driver and shown how to operate the diesel train. After a break for lunch you and the other participants will each take to the controls to drive the train along the beautiful countryside route. Don't get too caught up with admiring the rolling hills and varied wildlife!

A Day with a Train Driver on the Ecclesbourne Valley Railway - £199

Get to grips on the rails by spending a day with a train driver of a heritage locomotive. Learn how to run the train under expert guidance from the driver, and enjoy a buffet car lunch with up to three guests.

Spend the day under the guidance of a train driver.
Prepare the train for the trip, learn how it runs, and put it away at night.
Enjoy the beautiful countryside of the Gentle Valley and the picturesque town of Wirksworth.

Drive A Diesel Train Experience - £199

Drive a diesel train through Derbyshire's Ecclesbourne Valley. Under expert tuition you will take control for a section of the track. You'll also enjoy a buffet car lunch as part of this memorable experience for any train enthusiast.

On arrival meet your instructor who will give you a short introductory talk.
Your morning session will be spent learning the workings of the train.
During the afternoon you will then take the controls and drive the train along part of the track.
Take part in the final checks and then help to put the train away for the night.
Lunch in the buffet car will is included.
This experience is held as part of a group.
Spectators are not permitted.

Maximum group size is 4.

Participants must be reasonably fit and healthy.
