Experience the thrill of gaining in confidence on the slopes using proper techniques, rather than stumbling around wondering why the others can do it so much better than you. Get to master the snowboard before making the step up to skiing and learning how to keep those skis exactly parallel and answering to your every command.

Gone fishing

Jump on board a purpose-built fishing vessel and set sail down the Bristol Channel for six great hours of sea fishing. Your skipper will be delighted to pass on their experience to you, showing you the tips and tricks from years of trawling the seas, allowing you to take home anything that you catch. Alternatively, step up a level or two to experience the demands of fly fishing along the 26 miles of shoreline at Rutland Water in Leicestershire. With a seasoned instructor on hand, you'll be shown how to cast from the banks, bide your time and wait for the moment to land the big one.

Slower paced

Looking at more traditional sports you can take your pick between golf and snooker, or even try both options to add an edge to your game.

Take your clubs along to the futuristic Northwick Park in Middlesex to put your skills with club in hand to the test. Move from the driving range over to pitch and putt to give your short game a boost, before testing yourself out on some of the most famous holes in golf. We've put together a nine-hole ‘Majors’ course where you can drive the fairways of Augusta, chip and run at Lytham St Annes and face the unique greens of St Andrews all in the one session.

If the green baize is more your sort of surface, you can get along to the home of snooker in Sheffield to spend a day under the watchful eye of a professional snooker coach. Learn how to get gain control of the cue ball, plan two balls ahead, pot with confidence and use the accessories properly, before trying a few trick shots that will leave your friends baffled and amazed!

Something completely different
