ExperienceMad went to the Airkix indoor skydiving centre in Milton Keynes and the full account of our indoor skydiving exerience is on our blog. It's a must read, even if we say so ourselves!
In summary, we loved it! We wondered how much fun two minutes in a wind tunnel could really be and now we know. Loads! We arrived at the Xscape centre in Milton Keynes and made our way to Airkix registration. After a briefing video and demonstration by our instructor (chin up, hips forward and relax) we then donned our jump suits, goggles and headgear ready for our flights. A photo session was hastily arranged to capture us in our indoor skydiving regalia and then it was up to the wind tunnel. We each took it in turns to enter the tunnel where instructor Ted used a series of hand signals to guide us (chin up, straighten legs). The tips soon began to pay off and we were flying!
The wait for our next flight gave us the chance to catch our breath and watch our co-flyers. There is the option of a ride to the top of the tunnel with Ted which costs a bit extra but we went for it and loved it. After some more practise at controlled freefalling Ted grabbed us and up we went to the top of the tunnel, then down, then up and down once more. We were hooked. When we were invited to have another go for another additional charge we leapt at the chance!
The finale was an amazing demonstration by Ted. We all left claiming we could do that if we had another go!
After another photo session, we collected our DVD's and ended the day in the bar reliving every second of our bodyflying experiences. We will be back!
