Skids and Skills
Have you ever fancied speeding on a Segway, driving a huge, monstrous lorry, testing your wits in a stunt car and driving vehicles that you never even thought possible, or even knew existed? Then you'll love our ‘Skids and Skills’ driving experiences. We have a whole range of exciting and unique driving packages, and regardless of your tastes or your idea of fun, you are bound to find one that speaks to you on every level. I mean, let's face it, who wouldn't want to drive one of the biggest road vehicles in the world or ride a mechanical bed (yes, bed!) down a race track?
Which Skids and Skills Experiences are the best?
We have an impressive range of different experience days that fall under the ‘Skids and Skills’ category, and when it comes to deciding the best one, it really is all down to personal preference and taste.
Segway Driving:
Segway driving allows you to hop onto these unique machines and master the art of travelling standing up! As you prop yourself up on this two wheeled machine, you'll get to encounter rallying around a track or picturesque circuit (depending on your location) at a modest and exciting speed, standing up, simply holding onto the handle bars.
These comical machines have been seen in many Hollywood blockbusters, including ‘Paul Blart Mall Cop’ and ‘Austin Powers’ (owned by none other than Dr Evil!) and our Segway experiences invite you to enjoy this unique sensation for yourself.
Truck/Fire Engine/Double Decker Bus Driving:
They're the beasts of the road and if you've ever clapped eyes on any of these monsters on your travels and wished you could hop behind the wheel, then our range of Truck/Fire Engine/Double Decker Bus Driving Experiences are most certainly for you. This package gives you the chance to get behind the very large wheel of enormous 480BHP trucks, the hard to handle classic double-decker-bus and the life-saving, water filled fire engine, before driving it round an exhilarating purpose built track!
These experience days are ideal for those that want to swap their car for a monster on wheels for a few hours…
Skid Pan Experiences:
These experiences are ideal for those that love the screeches and smell of tyre burning that goes hand in hand with taking vehicles for a spin. Who knows when understanding how to handle a vehicle on slippery surfaces could certainly one day come in handy. These experience days invite you to learn how to drive on icy, dicey and darn right dangerous surfaces, as an expert driver teaches you exactly how to handle and manoeuvre the car when up against these treacherous conditions.
Star in a Car:
Ever watched Top Gear and found yourself announcing you could do much better than the celebrity racers on show? Well, now you have the chance to show everybody how, in our ‘Star in a Car’ Experience Day! As part of this exciting, nerve-racking package, you'll be filmed as you race around a track in a reasonably priced car- sound familiar? However, unlike Top Gear guests, if you can beat the fastest time of the year, you'll win a staggering £1000..
.
Something a Bit Wacky!:
Experience days are meant to give you a once in a lifetime experience, and what better way to enjoy yourself by letting yourself in for something that you never even thought possible – riding beds, office desks, sofas and even a double-decker car! When you choose this absolutely mind blowing, wacky package, you'll be introduced to all of the very odd and unique vehicles at our disposal before being given the chance to ride every single one of them. Kick back and relax (well... try!) on a double bed with your loved one as it hurtles down the track, take a seat at your desk as it speeds along the road, snuggle in your favourite position of the sofa and then wait for it to take off down the track and take your first ride in a double-decker car!
So what do these Experience Days involve?
Each of our ‘Skids and Skills’ Experience Days differ, but they typically include:
- Briefing/Safety Tutorial/Tuition
Upon arrival, an expert will most likely greet you and run you through the plans of the day, before briefing you on your vehicle(s) and explaining various safety procedures. You will also meet your instructor/tutor if your package requires one, and they will begin to teach you about the vehicle you'll be controlling.
- Driving/Riding
Then comes the best bit! When a safety briefing has been completed and all tuition and instructions have been given, it's usually time to take to the wheel of the vehicle as you get stuck into your experience day’s itinerary.
- Certificate/Refreshments
Depending on the Experience Day you choose, you may be treated to refreshments after your experience, many of which include light snacks and teas or coffees. Most of these Experience Days also come with a certificate presentation which acts as a fantastic memento to keep from your experience.
Our range of ‘Skids and Skills’ experiences differ in duration, and generally range from 30 minutes to four hours.
What about location?
Our Skids and Skills Experience Days are held all over the country, so whether you're coming from South, East, West or North, you'll easily find a location that is local to you.
Overall Verdict:
Our Skids and Skills Experience Days really do deliver a whole new level of fun and excitement. Whether you choose to learn a handy skill such as skid control, live out a childhood dream of controlling a fire engine, or whether you want to dive head first into a wacky world of driving beds and sofas, you'll find something that ticks all of the boxes.
