If you're looking to take up a new sport then why not give polo a go, this package offers you all that you need to learn the basics of this exciting sport before giving you the chance to play against others.

Why not combine the learning experience with beautiful surroundings? You will get to try riding a polo pony while testing out your mounted ball skills in Ascot Park's grounds, as well as trying out the all-weather riding arena at the venue.

The basic skills you will need are taught and this will help you to understand the rules and tactics of the game. This is done by explanation and demonstration using miniature pieces. You then get to practise the basic shots used in the game, before mounting the horse and trying to hit the ball with the mallet with some solo practice.

Trained instructors, and the opportunity to stay behind afterwards for some more practice and even some challenge matches and tournaments, enhance the experience. The venue is close to a number of country pubs and a light lunch and drinks are available to purchase at the venue itself.

Understand the game and its rules with a demonstration using miniatures.
Learn how to swing your mallet from a raised platform.
Once on your pony you will then put your swing into practice.
After time perfecting your moves you'll progress onto your first Chukka.
During this game you will have the chance to get competitive and try out your new skills.
Your lesson will run from 9 am to 11 am and your chukka runs from 11:30 am.

Notes and Restrictions

Voucher valid for 10 months.
Available Saturdays through the winter and Saturday and Sundays throughout spring and summer.
Min age - 12 years, Max weight - 20 stone.
Waterproofs and outdoors shoes with a heel (not trainers) are required.
Instructors are all Hurlingham Polo Association accredited.

"This was really fun"

Me and my big mouth. I happened to make some joke about Prince Charles not really being a sportsman and that polo couldn't be that difficult. Guess what? My mates have a whip around and buy me this for my birthday. Learning to play polo certainly is not easy but it is unbelievable fun nevertheless - and with a bit of instruction I would say that although it's definitely hats off to Charlie Windsor, I didn't make a complete idiot of myself. By the time I got to my 'chukka' (Indian word. learned a bit of history as well) I was having a great time. Great day and highly recommended.
