What does the activity include ?
A fun activity that anyone can do regardless of their level of riding experience. This Polo lesson for beginners will explain the basic elements of the game to help you gain an understanding of the overall picture of the sport. The rules and tactics of the game will be explained before you are taught the polo swing and the four basic shots used with this elegant and exhilarating sport. Then it's time to learn how to ride a polo pony before you bring it all together during your solo practice session!

Your instructor will explain the rules and tactics during a demonstration using a board with miniatures. You will then be taught the polo swing plus the four basic shots on an elevated platform using a shortened mallet. Then it's your chance to climb onto your horse and put it all into practice – hitting the ball with your mallet whilst riding your horse.

What else do I need to know ?
Customers purchasing this experience will be issued with a voucher for one person valid for 10 months. The polo lessons run on Saturday mornings during the winter and Saturday and Sunday mornings during the spring and summer seasons, from 9:00am to 11:00am. As the arena has an all weather surface, play is conducted in most weather conditions, although participants are advised to bring additional waterproofs. The maximum weight is 20st. The minimum age is approximately 12 years old, although children as young as 4 are welcome within the training centre - please speak to the polo office for more details. All polo equipment will be provided, including chaps and helmets, but please bring your own if you have them to ensure the best fit (regardless of style). We recommend wearing suitable outdoor shoes with a small heel (no trainers), but again please bring you own riding boots if you have them. Instructors are all Hurlingham Polo Association accredited. Additional lessons and instructional chukkas (where you can improve upon what you have learned and also enjoy playing competitive polo) may be booked with supplier directly for an additional fee following your introductory lesson.
