Gliding Discovery Flight - £95

This first gliding experience offers the chance to take the controls and fly the glider yourself amongst the clouds, with a qualified instructor as your co-pilot.

 

What does the activity include ?
Gliding is a unique flying sensation. The incredible speed and tranquil silence that comes with these fantastic and graceful aircraft is a one-of-a-kind experience. Depending on flying conditions, this first trial lesson lasts between 15 to 30 minutes, during which you will learn the controls and basic manoeuvres before deciding if you want to take the controls yourself and glide through the open skies!

Your flight takes place with a fully qualified pilot/instructor in a dual-controlled glider. You will receive a flight and safety briefing before taking to the skies! The glider is towed by a powered aircraft or winch up to a height of 2000ft into the air before being released to soar above the gorgeous countryside. The instructor will demonstrate glider controls and you may fly the aircraft yourself if you wish.
As gliding is very weather dependent it isn't possible to predict exact flight length, but airborn time should last between 15 and 30 minutes. Please note that every effort is made to ensure customers receive the best and safest flight for the conditions on the day.
At Denbigh participants will receive two winch launches with up to 30 minutes total flying time.

What else do I need to know ?
Customers purchasing this activity will be issued with a voucher valid for 10 months and may then contact their preferred location to arrange a date and time for their visit. As this experience is dependent on weather conditions, please contact your chosen venue on the morning of your flight to check that it is still going ahead with the day's conditions. Trial lessons are available to those aged over 14 years (with under 18s being accompanied by an adult). The minimum height for participants is 4ft 6" and maximum height is 6ft 3", with a maximum weight of 15st (the Warwickshire location may be able to accommodate participants who weigh slightly more than this). Spectators are welcome. At Oxfordshire the gliding club has a converted glider which enables the physically disabled to participate - please ask for further details.
