What happens on the day?

Fancy yourself as a bit of a wine connoisseur? Do you want to be able to tell a good wine without seeming pretentious? This Wine Tasting Evening for Two Experience is a great way for you and a friend or loved one to learn together the knack and subtleties of tasting like a professional, and will ultimately leave you happier as you pick wines more suited to your taste in the future.

Wine tasting has been given a big boost thanks to Oz Clarke and James May’s television vineyard tour series. Like them, you will learn about different types of wine and grapes from the key wine producing regions and how their climates vary and techniques are adapted in order to produce different flavours. In this relaxed environment you will go from novice to expert in no time, and awaken your taste buds in the process.

The tasting session sees you trying a minimum of six wines, as well as tasting food. Professional ISO (International Standardisation Organisation) tasting glasses will also be provided for the experience. Each session focuses on a specific region and the wine it generates, and the session is available in city centre locations in Manchester, Newcastle, Birmingham, London and Lancashire.

Excellent Mother's Day presentReview by Rosebud3699, Northampton
Overall
A great Mother's Day present which I could share with my mum. She's always loved wines but wanted to expand her knowledge so I thought this day would be the perfect mix. The staff were lovely, really friendly and they taught us so much! :)
Great evening outReview by Andy, Liverpool

My boyfriend and I chose the French evening as we wanted to learn more about French wines. The evening was educational yet interesting and it was a relief that the staff did not try to pressure you into buying particular wines. You could tell they were sincerely interested in the topics they were talking about so it was easy to become engrossed. A great day out, thank you.
Excellent EveningReview by Mother Hen,

A great opportunity to discover some unique wines in a relaxing atmosphere. It was a fairly small group of us so we were able to have debates and ask questions about the different wines. I came away with a lot of additional knowledge about wines, and some lovely bottles from the gift shop :)
Thoroughly enjoyableReview by Dixie, Preston
Overall
This was a great wine tasting, very informative and succinct :) I was worried it would be boring because I don't know much about wines, but I found I was actually really intriguied about its history! I also like the little challenges, like guessing the most expensive wine, made the day fly by, I was actually disappointed to leave!

Friendly relaxed eveningReview by Jaybee, Birmingham
Overall
A great day, made all the better by our helpful and informative guide. The day felt very classy, and we were provided with several nibbles of cheese, crackers and pate to accompany the wines. The only aspect which I feel could have been improved was that all of the nibbles were served on thin serviettes, which were a bit awkward to hold and felt cheap in comparison to the classy setting. This tiny flaw aside, it was a great day which was very memorable and insightful.

I went to the Newcastle Wine School with my husband and proved to be a very enjoyable day. We learnt so much about different wines, and were given some handy tips by the teacher on what to look for in a good wine. Thanks! Will be recommending this to our wine loving friends :)

Best Christmas Present Ever!Review by Woollie, Stoke-on-Trent Staffordshire

We got a chance to taste six different wines, and art part in a series of challenges where we had to identify differently priced wines. It made the day very entertaining, we were able to learn a great deal about wines without it feeling like a chore! Thank you very much to all the staff :)

West London Wine School was an amazing experience for my husband and I , both of whom are complete wine amateurs! We were made to feel at ease, and had all aspects of the day explained in a way we understood without being patronising. Now we feel ready to tackle the wine aisle with new acquired knowledge! Thanks!

Cheers, down the hatch !!Review by Champagne Charlie, Leyland Lancashire
Overall
From start to finish this was such a luxurious day. We were greeted with coffee, then whisked away on a glorious tour of the vineyard, with a few sample wines along the way. Lunch was decadent- with different wines suited to each course, and all of them made at the vineyard itself! We finished off the day at the gift shop, where we bought some lovely wines to take home with us.

It was amazing to discover different wines from around the world, and to explore the different processes which went into producing them. It was a brilliant day, one which I would recommend to anyone interested in the history and production of different wines.
Best wine tasting experienceReview by Trini in London, London

I've never been to a wine tasting tour before so this was a great introduction. The tour guide was very welcoming, and spoke in such a way that everyone could understand- whether you were a wine novice or a seasoned professional. By the end of the day, I felt I had learned so much which I can now use to wow my friends at dinner parties!
ImpressiveReview by Ivan Stretham, Alderly Edge, Cheshire
Overall
Lovely surroundings and a really nice day out. We travelled up to Manchester from Alderley Edge for this. It was part of my retirement present from work and obviously we had been looking forward to using the voucher. Easy to find the venue, we had plenty of time to shop and look around Manchester and then a really pleasant experience at our wine tasting, informative and very relaxed. We even booked one of your overnight deals in Manchester which was very reasonable. Service and efficiency was first rate so well done all at this site. Very impressed
