See the outstanding Royal collection of art and furniture at Buckingham Palace, then after your visit to the Queen's Gallery enjoy afternoon tea at the sumptuous Rubens Hotel. A great gift for art lovers.
What Your Experience Includes
The Queen’s Gallery at Buckingham Palace was re-opened by the Queen in 2002, and has been a dedicated space for displaying exhibitions from the stunning Royal Collection for 40 years. The magnificent collections of national art and treasures are held in trust by the Queen for the nation, and include furniture, paintings, jewellery and other treasures. After you have enjoying browsing around the gallery, you may then visit The Rubens Hotel for a delicious afternoon tea.
The Queen’s Gallery is accessed through a striking portico leading to a soaring double-height entrance hall and staircase. The Gallery's upper level offers several galleries or rooms, used for special exhibitions of paintings, drawings, watercolours and prints, furniture, porcelain, enamels, miniatures, jewellery and other works of art. Exhibitions are temporary and subject to change, but mayt include ‘Treasures from the Royal Collection’ (including world-famous paintings by Canaletto, Rembrandt and Winterhalter; amazing jewels, wonderful works by Fabergé, and ceremonial pieces of sculpture, furniture, porcelain and arms and armour); ‘The Conversation Piece: Scenes of Fashionable Life’ (this exhibition will explore the tradition of the ‘Conversation Piece’, group portraits of high-society sitters in strikingly informal situations), ‘Victoria & Albert: Art & Love’ (a major exhibition bringing together in excess of 400 items from the Royal Collection, focusing on Queen Victoria and Prince Albert’s shared enthusiasm for collecting and displaying works of art).
Following your visit to The Queen’s Gallery, The Rubens Hotel is a short stroll away, where you will be able to enjoy a delicious afternoon tea from its position opposite the Royal Mews. The afternoon tea will include delicate finger sandwiches, a selection of homemade pastries, freshly baked scones with Devonshire clotted cream, and a choice of freshly brewed teas and coffees.
Please note that filming and photography are not permitted inside The Queen’s Gallery, and mobile phones must be switched off inside the building. Souvenirs (many of which are designed exclusively for the Royal Collection) can be purchased from a shop inside the Gallery. Please note that exhibitions are temporary and subject to change.
