Spend time learning how to handle and fly birds of prey during this one to one falconry experience in Lanarkshire.
This experience in the wilds of Scotland offers a fantastic hands-on introduction to falconry; an absolute must for all birds of prey enthusiasts! During the three hours you will have available, there will be plenty of time to handle and fly the falconry birds over woodland, heath and grassland.
These magical falconry experiences start with an introduction to the birds and their stunning natural habitat around the centre in Biggar. You will then head off on foot and take part in a hunt with hawks and other birds, depending on the time of the year.
It is truly mesmerising watching the hawks seek out, circle over and then dive in for the prey, all under the control of the falconer. The expert handlers will give you a fascinating insight into the world of falconry; even the words cadge, hoodwink and callow all have their origins in this most ancient of countryside practices!
The birds of prey you'll encounter on these falconry experiences are red-tailed hawks, falcons, Harris Hawks, owls and the magnificent eagle. The birds of prey centre is set in one of the most naturally beautiful parts of Scotland, a perfect setting for a magnificent adventure.
