Discover the wonder of falconry and handle some amazing Birds of Prey with this fantastic experience in Yorkshire.

Birds are among the most graceful creatures on the planet, and undoubtedly it is the birds of prey that are the most breath-taking. This amazing experience will give you the unique opportunity to really get up close with these impressive birds and learn how to handle them and fly them. There are a variety of different breeds that reside at this impressive aviary in North Yorkshire, and you will get the chance to handle a number of them.

Upon arrival on site, you will be sent right into the deep end; your expert instructor will provide you with an in depth briefing of the various birds on site and what their various mannerisms are. Within an hour you will be handling the various birds and learning how to fly them. You will learn the basics to begin with, but by the time the day is out you will be taught a number of techniques that enable you to handle these creatures like an expert.

  • Enjoy a tea or coffee on arrival.
  • Before you start you will be given a short introduction to the birds and the centre.
  • Spend time learning the basics of bird handling.
  • Take the birds into the adjoining fields and woods to really see how they fly.
  • Your entire experience will last around 3 hours.

Notes and Restrictions

  • Voucher valid for 10 months.
  • Please bring boots with you and wear suitable outdoor clothing.
  • The species of bird will depend on the time of year.
  • There will be a maximum of 6 people taking part.

The voucher holder will fly and handle a variety of hawks, buzzards or owls during their 3 hour session.

Is it OK to bring a spectator? Would there be a charge for a spectator and if so would we just pay this on the day?

Spectators are welcome for an extra charge, this is to be paid when booking your date directly with the centre.
