If you’ve dreamt of working with animals then this is most definitely the experience for you! This wonderful day out will see you shadowing a zookeeper as they go about their daily jobs. It’s an informative and memorable day out for all animal lovers, big and small.

You’ll be feeding the animals, cleaning out their enclosures and even taking some of them on a little walk; all while you learn plenty of interesting things from an expert. You can also invite a friend for no extra charge, so why not share your magical day at the zoo with someone?

Once your experience is over you’ll receive a certificate and a t-shirt to help you remember the day, although most people have so much fun, they never forget! If you’ve ever aspired to become a zookeeper then why not give it a go? Who knows, it might lead to a career one day!

  • Held at Dartmoor Zoo.
  • Refreshments and your zoo keeper will greet you on arrival.
  • You will help with cleaning out, preparing food, feeding and general animal care.
  • Meet a variety of animals which may include reptiles, raccoons, otters and meerkats.
  • Watch the big cats being fed.
  • Take home a souvenir t-shirt and certificate.
  • Please allow around 8 hours for your experience.

  • Min age - 14 years (under 16s must be accompanied by an adult).
  • Available throughout the year, subject to availability.
  • There is no active involvement in the big cat section.
  • Watching the cats being fed is subject to availability.
  • Both people must take the experience at the same time.
  • One non-paying parent or guardian per child group is permitted, additional adults are chargeable.
  • Spectators will not accompany you but can pay the admission fee and enjoy the park at their leisure.
  • Disabled access is available.
